Asian & Irish Community Connect invites submissions for its 1st Annual Conference 2026, themed “Speaking Up, Stepping In: Asian Communities in Ireland.”

This conference aims to create a vibrant, inclusive space for researchers, community practitioners, activists, policymakers, artists, and community members to share knowledge, lived experiences, and innovative practices that strengthen Asian communities and deepen connections across Irish society.

Conference date: Saturday, 9 May 2026

Orgnised by Asian & Irish Community Connect

Hosted by Trinity Centre for Asian Studies

Location: Trinity College Dublin

Format: In person

Why this conference matters

Asian communities are among the fastest-growing and most diverse populations in Ireland, yet their voices, experiences, and contributions remain underrepresented in public discourse, policy development, and research. At a time of growing social change, increased migration, and rising concerns around racism and inequality, there is an urgent need for spaces that centre Asian perspectives, encourage dialogue, and support collective action.

This conference provides a platform to amplify Asian voices, bridge research and practice, inform policy, and foster solidarity between Asian communities and wider Irish society. Let’s turn shared experiences into meaningful change!

Conference Objectives

  1. Amplify Asian voices across social, cultural, and political spheres in Ireland.
  2. Explore identity and belonging among Asian communities and Asian-Irish individuals.
  3. Promote inclusion and political participation, highlighting pathways to civic engagement.
  4. Bridge community, academic, and policy perspectives on migration, integration, and representation.
  5. Publish and disseminate research and reflections via conference proceed.
