Ink, culture, and celebration
all in one afternoon!
20th February 2026
Central Library at the ILAC Shopping Centre, Dublin
Time: 13:00 – 14:00
As part of the Dublin Lunar New Year celebrations hosted by Asian & Irish Community Connect, we were delighted to hold a Mongolian Calligraphy Workshop led by the wonderful @Enkhtuul Gantogtokh and Gonchigkhand Byambaa.
Participants stepped into the elegant world of traditional Mongolian script and learned how each flowing stroke carries history and meaning. From first tentative lines to confident final flourishes, each name became a unique piece of art to take home.
Materials: All provided — including calligraphy brushes, pens, markers, ink, and special calligraphy paper.
This workshop aims to promote Mongolian cultural heritage, language awareness, and community engagement in a welcoming and inclusive environment. Whether you’re curious about calligraphy, interested in cultural exchange, or simply looking to try something new, you are very welcome to join us.

Auspicious Eight Fire Horse Exhibition
Join us for the opening night of Auspicious Eight 2026 Fire Horse on Thursday, 12 February from 6pm to 9pm for an exciting exhibition showcasing nine contemporary artists who celebrate the Lunar New Year. Enjoy an evening of tea, snacks, music, and see artwork by Bao Han Nguyen, Emer Wang, Grace McEvoy, Jiayi Luo, Lin Zhou, Stacy Kim, Xuying Li, Yang Yang and Zell Ping.
Going into its third year, Auspicious Eight began as a celebration of contemporary artists connected to the Lunar New Year, with the simple premise of treating the Lunar New Year as a normalised holiday in Dublin, much like how St.Patrick’s Day celebrations have been adopted by countries abroad. Since its debut in February 2024, the exhibition has blossomed into a vibrant community with emerging and established artists supporting one another. What’s special about this year is not only the energy of the Fire Horse but that A Takeaway Collective, founded by Jinny Ly and Yuwen Xing which has grown to several members, have organised this year’s exhibition. So come by, grab a cup of tea and relax – ah go on.

Lunar New Year 2026 Pub Quiz
On 13 February evening, we gathered for a joyful, high-energy Pub Quiz as part of Dublin’s Lunar New Year Celebrations 2026 🏮🐉
The room was buzzing with laughter, friendly competition, and multicultural pride as teams tackled questions on:
🍜 Asian cultures
☘️ Irish traditions
🎎 Festivals & history
🎬 Pop culture
🥟 Food (of course!)
We were absolutely delighted to have Dominic Anglim as our Quiz Master — an Irish non-binary performance artist based in London, bringing 15 years of stand-up comedy brilliance to the stage. The wit, the timing, the chaos (the good kind!) — unforgettable.
A heartfelt thank you to our generous sponsor Steppe & Willow, a beautiful family business offering luxury cashmere, yak, and camel wool accessories responsibly sourced from nomadic Mongolian co-operatives. Supporting ethical craft and community across borders — we love to see it.
Events like this remind us why gathering matters. Culture is a connection. Migration is a story. Celebration is resistance.
